Redact documents for HR & recruiting
Krymp Redact documents lets HR mask CVs, transcripts and employment records in PDF and Word — right in the browser. Hide names, photos, ID numbers and contact details for blind screening or data minimisation.
The document never leaves your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, no signup required — candidates' privacy is protected throughout the redaction flow.
Blind CV screening reduces unconscious bias, and GDPR requires you not to store more personal data than necessary. Krymp performs the redaction in your own browser — the candidate's document never ends up in an extra third-party service.
Typical use cases
- Blind CV screening
Mask names, age, address and photo before the first round.
- Transcripts and certificates
Hide ID numbers in photographed and scanned documents.
- Internal investigations
Anonymise information in internal investigations before sharing further.
- Employment decisions
Share templates and records without leaking previous HR cases.
How to redact, step by step
- 1Upload PDF or DOCX. Drop the document into your browser — nothing leaves your device.
- 2Suggest sensitive. Click 'Suggest sensitive' to auto-detect ID numbers, emails, phones and IBANs.
- 3Adjust selections. Add custom boxes or terms for names and anything regex can't catch.
- 4Export safely. PDFs are rasterised on export; DOCX text is replaced with ████.
Common questions from HR
- How does blind CV screening work with PDF?
- Upload the CV, click 'Suggest sensitive' to find ID numbers and contact details, add a box over the photo and name, and export. The rasterised PDF is safe to forward.
- Does it work with Word CVs?
- Yes. For .docx we auto-detect ID numbers, emails and phones — you can add names as a custom term, and they're replaced with ████ in the exported file.
- Is it GDPR-compliant?
- Yes. Documents are processed only locally — no candidate data is sent to an external service, which supports data minimisation.
- Can I remove the entire photo of a candidate?
- Yes — drag a large black box over the photo. On PDF export the page is rasterised so the pixels underneath truly disappear.
- Does it work for multiple documents?
- Yes — run one document at a time. The tool is built to be fast enough to standardise in the recruitment flow.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. Krymp is free and requires no signup.
