Blind CV screening reduces unconscious bias. But most CVs arrive as PDFs or images that include both photos and personal data. Krymp lets you quickly mask identifying information before the material reaches reviewers — without the candidate's file going through an extra third-party service.

How to mask, step by step
- 1Upload the image. Drop it in the browser — nothing is sent anywhere.
- 2Mark sensitive areas. Drag boxes over names, faces, ID numbers or anything that must be hidden.
- 3Choose the mask type. Black box for evidentiary value, pixelate/blur for legible context, white for receipts.
- 4Export. Download as PNG or JPG, ready to share.
Common HR questions
- Does blind CV screening actually reduce bias?
- Research from labour-market institutes shows that blind CV screening reduces systematic differences in interview invitations, especially around names and gender.
- Is it GDPR-safe to let the whole hiring team see a candidate's photo?
- Processing must be necessary for the purpose. Masking photo, age and name in the first selection step reduces the personal data being processed and is good practice for data minimization (Art. 5.1c).
- Can I restore the original later?
- The original file remains untouched on your computer — Krymp exports a new masked version. Keep the original in your protected storage.
- Does it work with PDF CVs?
- Convert the PDF to image first (each page separately), then mask page by page in Krymp.
- How fast can I mask 50 CVs?
- With batch mode you upload all 50, set shared selections for photo and name areas, and export as a ZIP in a few minutes.
- Has the tool been vetted by IT?
- Since Krymp makes no network calls with image content, there's no data flow to review. Share /dataskydd with your IT team if needed.
- Can I use it on a managed work computer (MDM)?

- What should I not mask?
- Keep experience, education type and competencies — that's where the assessment should happen.
