Mask Image for Healthcare
Krymp Mask Image lets you anonymize EHR screenshots, wound reports and image attachments locally in the browser — patient data never leaves your device, compatible with healthcare privacy laws and GDPR.
Patient data never leaves your browser. Nothing is sent to a server — compatible with healthcare privacy laws and GDPR.
In healthcare and social services, patient data is especially protected. When you need to share an image — an EHR screenshot for IT support, a teaching slide, an incident report — IDs, names and other identifying details must come off first. Krymp does the masking in the browser without sending the image to any external service.
Typical use cases
- EHR screenshots
Mask names and IDs before sending the ticket to IT or the vendor.
- Incident reports
Hide patient identities in attachments that are part of investigations.
- Education & training
Use real case images anonymously in internal training and lectures.
- Social services
Mask children's faces and school names in materials shared between case workers.
How to mask, step by step
- 1Upload the image. Drop it in the browser — nothing is sent anywhere.
- 2Mark sensitive areas. Drag boxes over names, faces, ID numbers or anything that must be hidden.
- 3Choose the mask type. Black box for evidentiary value, pixelate/blur for legible context, white for receipts.
- 4Export. Download as PNG or JPG, ready to share.
Common healthcare questions
- Is the tool compatible with healthcare privacy laws?
- All processing happens in your browser — no patient data is transferred to a third party. As the care provider you remain responsible for deciding what, how and where data may be handled under your local law and GDPR.
- Can I use it on a managed work computer?
- Yes, Krymp runs in the browser with no install. Since no images are sent, there's no extra data flow for IT to approve — but always follow your employer's internal policies.
- Is blur enough to de-identify?
- For EHR screens and ID numbers we recommend black box. Blur is fine for background and context but in some cases can be reversed.
- How do I handle images of patients who can't consent?
- Mask face, tattoos and other identifying features before sharing. Discuss the consent question with your unit manager before publication.
- Can I mask images from banking or app flows?
- Yes — export the image from the app, drop it in Krymp and black out IDs, references and account numbers.
- What about images that have already been shared?
- Retro-masking can't protect what was already sent. Use Krymp as the first step before you hit send.
- Does it work on iPad at reception?
- Yes, both touch and pointer work. Tap targets are sized for fingers.
- Do I need a data-processing agreement to use Krymp?
- No. Krymp is not a data processor because no personal data is transferred to us — the tool runs entirely client-side.
