Map for Instagram

A stylized map of the city you're in — or the restaurant you're reviewing — lifts an Instagram post without needing a designer. Krymp Map does it in the browser at the exact social format you need.

How do I make a nice map for Instagram?

Open Krymp Map, search the place, pick the Pastel or Krymp style and the 1:1 (feed) or 9:16 (story/Reel) format. Add a text overlay with the place name, export as JPG at 2×. The image is 2160×2160 (feed) or 2160×3840 (story) px and can be uploaded directly.

Which format should I pick?

Feed = 1:1. Story and Reel cover = 9:16. Carousel = 1:1 or 4:5 (portrait). Krymp Map has presets for all of them.

Style sets the tone

For travel and restaurants, Pastel or Warm blend into a bright white feed. For a designy profile (architecture, fashion) use Krymp or Noir.

Combo: map + photo carousel

Put a map as the first carousel slide — then three photos from the location. Gives context instantly and keeps swipe-rate up. For quick sizing of your photos, use Krymp Image.

Text on the map

Krymp's text overlay sets place name and date in the same typography as the rest of the site. Turn it off if you'd rather place text inside Instagram's editor (stickers, fonts) — the map then also works as a story background.

Vanliga frågor

What resolution does Instagram want?

Feed: at least 1080×1080 px (1:1). Story & Reels: 1080×1920 px (9:16). Krymp Map at 2× gives 2160×2160 / 2160×3840 — Instagram recompresses, so keep headroom.

Will the map show up in story archive?

Since you upload JPG/PNG manually, the map behaves like any other image — save as highlight, add stickers and links.

Can I use the map in a sponsored post?

Yes. The OpenStreetMap ODbL license allows commercial use as long as you credit the source — write "map: openstreetmap.org" in the caption.
